About the Speaker(s):

Adrienne Koenig, MS, CCC-SLP is the Director of Speech-Language Pathology at The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf in Beverly, MA. There, she leads a team of therapists and supports neurodiverse hearing and DHH students aged 3-21 with developmental disabilities and complex communication needs. Adrienne first learned of gestalt language processing at Dr. Lillian Steigler’s 2018 ASHA seminar and was drawn to learn more on the topic. She took courses through Northern Speech Services, ASHA, and Meaningful Speech, became certified in Natural Language Acquisition, and learned from Marge Blanc and Alexandria Zachos. Discovering that “scripting” was not a “maladaptive behavior” as she had previously been taught, but the first stage of gestalt language development, Adrienne endeavored to educate her community and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to support a necessary shift in services for the population she served. Adrienne has provided consultations, professional development, presentations for the Federation for Children with Special Needs (2021, 2022), webinars viewable on YouTube (2021, 2022), and workshops for the Long Island Speech-Language Hearing Association (2022), Brookville Center for Children’s Services (2024) and Riverside Early Intervention (2024). Outside of her work as a SLP, Adrienne enjoys hiking and spending time by the ocean with her family.
