For many BCCS families, prom is a milestone of achievement, growth, and friendship. At the Children’s Education Center (Ed Center), it’s a cherished tradition.
While an especially meaningful night for graduating seniors, prom welcomes students ages 14 and older, along with their parents for a night of celebration.
“I had a parent tell me, ‘I never thought I’d get to see this for my son,’” said Denise Gaughan, Director of the Children’s Education Center. “It’s also nice for the parents to get together.”
Among those celebrating was Lynn Pickus, whose son Noah recently graduated. Watching Noah laugh with friends and enjoy the evening reminded her how much he’s grown.
“He’s made a huge amount of progress,” Lynn shared.
To commemorate Noah’s time at BCCS, Lynn is beginning a special project to commemorate his and his fellow graduates’ time at BCCS – a yearbook.
Prom night is sure to be a standout memory as families walked the red carpet, danced, dined, and enjoyed the evening together.
For completing a successful year, Miles Semilof, an Ed Center student, made a speech honoring graduates and his fellow students.
“I want to share applause to teachers, staff, parents, family and everyone,” Miles said. In his speech, Miles made sure to shout out Manuel Lopez, one of his best friends graduating this year.
“Manuel, you’re doing a great job,” Miles said regarding Manuel’s recent transition to adult services. “We reached the end of the school year. It’s a new one in 2026-2027. We did great, thank you! Music.” Miles shouted, proudly pumping his fist in the air, as he and his classmates returned to the dance floor.
